Class suspensions have been announced in various areas across the country for Monday (September 16) due to adverse weather conditions caused by the southwest monsoon, or habagat, and a low-pressure area (LPA).
Here is a list of areas where classes have been suspended at all levels, both public and private:
Luzon:
- Mamburao, Occidental Mindoro
- Magsaysay, Occidental Mindoro
- Rizal, Occidental Mindoro
- San Jose, Occidental Mindoro
- Coron, Palawan
Visayas:
- Lezo, Aklan
- Kalibo, Aklan
- Libertad, Antique
- Patnongon, Antique
- Bacolod City, Negros Occidental
- Binalbagan, Negros Occidental
- Himamaylan, Negros Occidental
- Isabela, Negros Occidental
- La Carlota, Negros Occidental
The state weather bureau earlier reported that they are monitoring two LPAs, one inside and one outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), which could potentially develop into tropical cyclones. The LPA within PAR was last detected 460 kilometers east of Casuguran, Aurora, while the one outside PAR is located 2,160 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas, far from the country’s landmass.
