As Tropical Depression Gener mildly intensified and moved slowly over the Philippine Sea, more areas have been put under Signal No. 1, according to the state weather bureau. In its 11 a.m. bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) noted that Gener was last observed 325 kilometers east of Casiguran, Aurora.
The tropical depression had maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour (kph) and gusts reaching up to 70 kph. In response to this, Pagasa issued Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) Number 1 for an additional seven areas.

Gener has also enhanced the southwest monsoon or habagat, which is expected to bring strong winds to the following areas:
Pagasa stated, “Gener is expected to leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) between late Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning.” They also noted, “Once outside the PAR, Gener will continue moving northwest or west-northwest and is projected to make landfall over southern mainland China on Friday, September 20.”
