The state weather bureau is keeping an eye on two low-pressure areas (LPAs), one within and one outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), that could potentially develop into tropical cyclones.

In their afternoon update, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) reported that the LPA within PAR was located 460 kilometers east of Casuguran, Aurora, while the LPA outside PAR was situated 2,160 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas, well away from the country's landmass.

If the low-pressure area within PAR strengthens, Pagasa indicated that wind signals will be promptly issued for Cagayan and the eastern part of Northern Luzon.

"Over the next few days, it could also bring moderate to heavy rainfall, particularly affecting Cagayan and Isabela. This afternoon, its trough or extension is expected to impact Isabela or Cagayan," weather specialist Ana Clauren-Jorda noted.

Jorda also noted that the southwest monsoon, or habagat, will continue to cause heavy rainfall in the northern areas of Palawan, Occidental Mindoro, Aklan, and Antique.

Additionally, Pagasa has issued a gale warning for several regions where wave heights could reach 3.7 to 4.5 meters. The affected areas include:

- Occidental Mindoro

- Palawan

- Romblon

- Western Visayas

- Negros Island Region

- Central Visayas

- Southern Leyte

- Leyte (Matalom, Bato, Hindang, Hilongos, Inopacan)

- Zamboanga del Norte

- Camiguin

- Dinagat Island

- Surigao del Norte (San Francisco, Malimono, Surigao City)
