Pagasa specialist Benison Estareja advised in Thursday morning’s weather update that we should anticipate rainfall today and in the days ahead across much of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
According to Estareja, the trough or extension of Bebinca will cause cloudy skies along with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms in Eastern Visayas, the Caraga Region, Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, and Masbate.
On Thursday, the southwest monsoon, locally known as habagat, is expected to bring overcast skies along with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms to the remaining areas of Visayas and Mindanao, as well as Palawan, Occidental Mindoro, and Romblon.
Estareja also mentioned that on Thursday, Metro Manila and other parts of the country can expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies with the possibility of isolated rain showers. Additionally, Bebinca could strengthen into a typhoon before entering the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Friday night.
Once Bebinca enters the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), it will be given the local name Ferdie and will become the sixth tropical cyclone to impact the country.
Estareja stated, “It is anticipated to continue moving northwest until it exits PAR on Saturday morning.”
On September 12, Pagasa did not issue any gale warnings for seaboards across the country.
